French Quarter Dip
This dip is really amazing! Every time I make it for anyone they always want the recipe. Such a surprising blend of ingredients, but it all really works nicely together. The savory cream cheese pairs well with the sweet glazed pecans.
My favorite cracker to serve with the French Quarter Dip is Wheat Things. They’re slightly sweet and sturdy enough for dipping. I photographed the dip with round pita crackers, which were nice with the dip too.

Ingredients
I highly recommend that you read through my detailed instructions here in this post to make sure you fully understand the process of making French Quarter Dip before you begin. I have the whole recipe with ingredients and instructions in an easy to print format at the end of this article.
Here are the ingredients you’ll need:
- 8 ounce block of cream cheese – Make sure it’s nice and soft before you begin the recipe.
- 1 teaspoon onion – You’ll need to peel and grate the onion. Grate it with a cheese grater using the finest grate. It basically turns the onion into a paste, and that is perfect.
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar – Either light or dark brown sugar is good.
- 1/2 teaspoon brown mustard – I used a spicy brown mustard. Any smooth brown mustard will work.
- 1 cup pecans
How to Make French Quarter Dip
STEP 1: In a small mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, grated onion, garlic powder, and 1 teaspoon of the Worcestershire sauce. Scoop onto a sheet of plastic wrap and form into a disk.
Wrap tightly with the plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator. Chill for 2 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to meld. After chilling the cream cheese, unwrap it and place on a serving plate.
STEP 2: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, then add the brown sugar, brown mustard, and the remaining 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce. Cook over medium heat, stirring often, until the sugar is melted and the sauce is smooth.
STEP 3: Add the pecans to the sauce and stir to coat.
STEP 4: Pour the pecan mixture over the cream cheese disk and serve immediately with crackers.
Storing Leftovers
The leftover French Quarter Dip can be covered with plastic or transferred to a food storage container with a lid. Keep the dip in the refrigerator for up to five days.
