The Best Banana Bread Recipe
Banana bread is one of the easiest and cheapest recipes you can make! I really recommend this recipe for beginner bakers and experienced home cooks alike.
My daughter loves the banana walnut bread at Starbucks. This banana bread recipe is very similar, if not better.
I first mentioned this banana bread recipe when I served it alongside my very popular Kielbasas and Potato Skillet dinner. Check out that recipe too!
A Word About the Nuts
Not a fan of nuts in your banana bread? No worries! This banana bread recipe can easily be made without the nuts.
I usually prefer my banana bread sans nuts. But my daughter really loves the nuts. I do have to admit… they do make the bread look really pretty!
Nuts or no nuts? Either way, this banana bread recipe is still the best.
Making the Best Banana Bread Recipe
As I mentioned above, making banana bread is really easy. Here’s what you need:
2 mixing bowls
an electric mixer
a whisk
a spatula
a loaf pan
plus…
1⁄2 cup butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
3 large very ripe bananas
1 1⁄2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
You’ll start by creaming together the butter and sugar, then adding the rest of the wet ingredients. In a different bowl, use a whisk to combine the dry ingredients. Then, mix the wet and dry ingredients together, add the nuts, pour the batter into a well greased loaf pan, sprinkle with more nuts, bake, and enjoy!
This is such an easy and frugal way to use up bananas. I hate seeing good bananas go to waste, but once there are any dark spots, we just don’t eat them. So making homemade banana bread is the perfect way to put brown bananas to good use.
Bonus Tip!
Not ready to make banana bread but you have over ripe bananas? Peel them, place them in airtight food storage containers, and freeze them. Then, whenever you want to make banana bread, you have bananas!
