Butter Biscuits

  • Author: Carissa Shaw for Mom Needs Chocolate

Ingredients

Scale

4 cups of biscuit mix (such as Bisquick or a store brand)
1 cup of sour cream
1 cup of Sprite (7-Up or store brand is also fine)
1 stick of butter, melted

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, stir the sour cream into the biscuit mix. Add the Sprite and mix gently.
  2. Turn the dough out onto a well floured surface. The dough will be very sticky. Knead gently just a couple of times. Do not over knead. The dough should remain very light and will still be sticky.
  3. Form the dough into a square at least 1 inch in thickness (the dough will spread while baking but does not rise a whole lot, so pat out your dough to your desired thickness).
  4. Cut the biscuits with a knife or biscuit cutter (square is best because cutting is simple and there is no wasted dough).
  5. Transfer the biscuits into a lightly greased 9×13 (or larger) glass baking dish. Pour the melted butter over the biscuits.
  6. Bake at 400 for 12-15 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown.
    Makes 18 biscuits.
