BBQ Meatball Sliders
A few years ago, a coworker brought the most delicious homemade meatballs in a homemade BBQ sauce to work for a potluck. We all loved them so much! We piled the delicious little meatballs onto sweet Hawaiian dinner rolls to make sandwiches.
The only problem with these little BBQ meatball sandwiches was the round shape of the meatballs. One little meatball wasn’t enough for our slider size sandwiches, so we would put several meatballs onto one roll. But this was so messy! They kept rolling right out of the sandwich.
Recently, I was thinking of making these oh-so-yummy homemade BBQ meatballs again and the idea hit me… why not make the meatballs into patties?! This way, they are made to be eaten as a sandwich.
So, I went for it! And ya’ll… let me toot my own horn here for a second… these BBQ meatball sliders are genius! Take the potluck favorite meatballs and turn them into dinner!
Secret Ingredient
The “secret” ingredient would have to be the sausage. Good meatballs are always made with a blend of meats, and in this case, I used ground beef and Odom’s Tennessee Pride Country Sausage. You can click on the image below to get this sausage:

Making BBQ Meatball Sliders
These meatball sliders are pretty simple to make! Start by mixing together ground beef, 1 roll of Odom’s Tennessee Pride Country Sausage, an egg and quick oats as binder, a finely diced onion, evaporated milk, and spices.
The best way to mix the meat is with your hands. Wash them well with soap and water, then use your hands to mix it all together well. Form the meat mixture into patties, about 3-4 inches in diameter, depending on the size of your slider rolls. Remember, the patties will shrink while they cook, so make them bigger than the slider buns to start with. My patties looked to be about the size of regular burgers, but I knew they would shrink considerably while baking.
You’ll bake the patties on a cookie sheet that has been greased with non-stick cooking spray.
While the meatball patties are baking, combine the ingredients for the BBQ sauce in a medium pot and bring it to a slow boil.
When the patties are finished baking, you’ll transfer them to a glass baking dish, then pour the homemade sauce over them.
Finally, bake the BBQ meatball sliders again for about 12 minutes.
That’s it! Just serve the BBQ meatball patties with little sweet Hawaiian dinner rolls or small brioche buns for the perfect little meat”ball” sliders.
Guys… these are so yummy! Homemade BBQ meatballs, but made flat to be perfect between the bread!
