Baked Turkey Cranberry Sliders
I’ve been mildly obsessed with baked sliders for a few years now. It started with the classic ham and cheese sliders and then evolved into me trying to turn everything into a slider. Okay… not everything. But when thinking of delicious slider combinations I had to make a post-Thanksgiving feast version. These Baked Turkey Cranberry Sliders were the mouth-watering result.
So if you, like Ross Geller and his prized Thanksgiving leftovers sandwich with the “moist-maker,” enjoy a good turkey sandwich then I know these sliders will be right up your alley. Plus, no need for whatever the “moist-maker” is because honestly, it sounds a bit unsettling. 🙂
The Ingredients You’ll Need
You’ll need 9 simple ingredients when making Baked Turkey Cranberry Sliders. The easy-to-print full list of ingredients and instructions are further down below in this article.
- 1 package (12 rolls) of Hawaiian-style dinner rolls – I used the rolls from Aldi because they’re cheaper, but King’s Hawaiian is perfect as well.
- 8 ounces turkey lunchmeat or leftover fully cooked turkey
- 8 ounces provolone cheese – swiss cheese also works well.
- 1 cup whole berry cranberry sauce – or use 1 can of jellied cranberry sauce, sliced into 12 thin rounds.
- ¼ cup butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed – you can use either light or dark brown sugar.
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- ½ teaspoon poppy seeds – the poppy seeds are optional but do look really pretty on the rolls.
How to Make Baked Turkey Cranberry Sliders
Start by preheating oven to 375F. Remove the rolls from the package and use a long, sharp knife to cut the whole loaf in half horizontally to create a bottom half and a top half. Place the bottom half into a 9×13-inch glass baking dish.
Evenly distribute the turkey over the bottom half of the bread.
Add a layer of the cheese over the turkey slices.
Now spoon on the cranberry sauce then place the top half of the bread on top.
In a small saucepan, heat the butter, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, and poppy seeds over medium heat until the butter is melted and the sugar dissolved; stir often.
Pour the sauce all over the top of the sandwiches, using a spoon or pastry brush to evenly distribute the sauce.
Cover the dish with foil, then bake the sliders at 375F for 15 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-6 minutes until the sliders are golden brown and the cheese is melted. Cool the sandwiches slightly before serving.
Variations
- I use deli-style turkey lunchmeat, but this can also be done with leftover turkey.
- I used canned whole-berry cranberry sauce, but it could be made with thin slices of jellied cranberry sauce or even a homemade sauce.
- The poppy seeds are optional and can be left out of the recipe if you prefer.
