The Pumpkin Spice Latte. Do you “get it”? I do. I really really get it. Some people do not get it. There are the straight up coffee folks. There are those who shun seasonal beverages in order to avoid the inevitable disappointment that comes when the season ends, taking with it the favorite flavors we become connected to. Then there are those of us who fully commit and whole heartedly give ourselves over to the warm aromas of pumpkin spice.

I love you, PSL.

Do you think I’m a bit too dramatic? Possibly. Let me tell you why I love my Pumpkin Spice Latte.

I love the memories of cool autumn mornings heading to work in my little maroon car. I stop through the Starbucks drive thru near my house for my morning caffeine fix. As soon as the precious little cup is placed in my hands I drive away, but I don’t go far. I pull into a nearby parking space, remove the lid from my beverage, then slowly sip away the cap of foam and heavenly whipped cream that is topped with a dash of cinnamon. The hot and delicious steam wafts over my sleepy face, bringing instant comfort. One of my favorite moments of the day. Just me and my latte.

I love memories of two years ago. Very pregnant me driving with my husband on our way to child birth classes. The September evenings were beautiful and comfortably cool with captivating early autumn sunsets. We would stop for a Pumpkin Spice Latte on our way to class and it was always at hand throughout those special moments of learning and bonding over piles of informative pamphlets and a little plastic baby doll.

I love the anticipation for the PSL to return. When it does I love seeing comments and pictures all over social media as friends celebrate the return of the beloved beverage. It’s like we all say in unison, “welcome back, friend!”

I love that every time I taste my PSL for the first time at the beginning of the fall season, it tastes the same as it did the year before. It is something constant in my ever changing life. I love that it reminds me of pumpkin pie, which reminds me of fall, which reminds me of holidays, which reminds me of family, which reminds me of comfort and happiness.

How is it possible to have so many happy feelings contained in one little cup?

Happy Pumpkin Spice Latte season, everyone!

Carissa Shaw

I love this! You GET it! There are definitely people who just do not get this drink! It's my absolute favorite. My friend said she tried a pumpkin spice chai tea latte the other day too. I might have to experiment with that, as the chai tea is my second fave.

This was such a cool post. I love it! I love them, too, but don't really have "memories" to go with them. I do, however, have memories with their apple cider, and happy ones, so I feel you. Thanks for sharing. Stopping by because I think I saw you this AM via SITSsharefest, but I left your page open for so long I forget! 😛

LOVE the caramel apple cider! I used to work at Starbucks (over 10 years ago!) and drank my fair share of them 🙂

I've yet to try the PSF! I've added it to my bucket list 😉
