Eating out is one of my favorite things to do. It’s true! I find it relaxing and there are no dishes to deal with after dinner. Win!

At the very top of my list of favorite restaurants is Cracker Barrel. Are you a Cracker Barrel fan too? I just needed to share some sweet pictures from a lunch I shared with my daughter just this past weekend.

Trying out the rocking chairs and checkers games in front of the store is a must!

On a busy Saturday at Cracker Barrel, we are not at all bothered by the short wait. Plenty to look at in the general store!

I’ve been visiting Cracker Barrel’s since I was a kid. My brother and I would be allowed to order our food and then go check out the store while the food was being made. Loved it!

My family always sought out the Cracker Barrel’s along the way of any road trip. It’s consistently a great meal and perfect place to stretch your legs during a long car ride.

After our meal my brother and I would buy a few treats for the drive. I typically picked out some of the thin candy sticks and as many chocolate mints as I could get for $1.00. The little brown bag of goodies would keep me occupied on every road trip!

Now my own daughter also loves a Cracker Barrel visit!

Here she is next to the rack of small activity, sticker, and paper doll books… the same type that I enjoyed as a child!

But the best thing about Cracker Barrel is the fresh made country style food…

Me and my girl waiting for our dinner!

While waiting to eat, we always enjoy the classic table game:

My dinner was chicken ‘n dumplings, carrots, green beans, and hash brown casserole.

Are you so hungry right now?!

Of all the wonderful things that Cracker Barrel serves, my favorite is so simple: grilled sourdough toast.

Not just toasted toast. No… grilled. That means cooked on the griddle with butter. It comes to me warm, crispy, buttery and ready for some jam.

Oh. my. goodness.

We don’t live super close to Cracker Barrel, so I buy a loaf of the sourdough bread so I can have my grilled sourdough toast at home. It’s easy!

Start with this bread:

Next, spread softened butter on each side of a slice of bread. Then pan fry the bread over medium heat until each side is golden brown. Spread on some jam and enjoy!

What is your favorite meal at Cracker Barrel?

Have a great day!
