Last month I moved into my new house (yay!) and am having fun decorating and making this house my home. Last year I discovered Lindsay Letters and just knew I had to have some of her beautiful calligraphy work throughout my new home. Have you seen Lindsay Letters? You guys… so awesome! I’m obsessed. So imagine my delight when I realized that I already owned a Lindsay Letters piece. It’s a tea towel from Mary & Martha (another obsession of mine!) that says “They broke bread in their homes with glad and sincere hearts.” LOVE! This big beautiful tea towel is just too amazing to hide in a drawer or to be draped over the oven handle. So I decided it needed to be its own piece of art to hang in my kitchen.
This is so easy I’m almost embarrassed. All you need is an awesome tea towel, a blank canvas, and thumbtacks.
I already owned the towel, so I just jumped over to Pat Catans and bought me some thumbtacks and a canvas to fit my towel. Five minutes and $9 was all it took!
I laid out the towel face down and placed the canvas over it:
Thumbtacks easily hold the towel to the canvas:
And voila! Easy and beautiful tea towel art.
If you love this, check out www.mymaryandmartha.com/chelseawellman then click “shop” and search for “tea towel.” You’ll find several amazing towels to choose from, including the one I used and another Lindsay Letters design.
Have a great day!

Oh I love this idea and since I'm a southern girl, I love tea towels but never thought about doing this. I have some that have been embroidered by my great grandmother and won't use them because they are delicate. Here is a way to display them.

Yes! The husband approves. We have a tea towel tacked to our kitchen wall. That wall could be useful for another storage project. On a canvas, I can still display it on a non functional wall. Thanks for the great idea.

What a great idea! I love pretty tea towels, but the design gets ruined so quickly when you use them, this is a great way to enjoy AND preserve them.

I absolutely adore this! What size canvas did you use? Does the tea towel design cover the entire towel, or did you have to trim some off? Thanks! 🙂
carissashaw says
No, I didn't need to trim any off with this towel. It worked really well!

Have you tired to decoupage the canvas?
