Have you ever made OREO Cookie Balls? I first saw the recipe several years ago in a magazine and have loved them ever since. They’re so simple: crushed OREOs mixed with cream cheese, rolled into balls, and dipped in chocolate. Pure magic!


1 pkg (8 oz.) brick
cream cheese, softened
36 OREO Cookies,
finely crushed (about 3 cups)
4 pkg. (4 oz. each)
semi-sweet baking chocolate, melted

Make it!

  • MIX cream cheese
    and cookie crumbs until blended.
  • SHAPE into 48
    (1-inch) balls. Freeze 10 min. Dip balls in melted chocolate; place in single
    layer in shallow waxed paper-lined pan.
  • CUSTOMIZE it with
    your own ingredient additions or decorative skills.
  • REFRIGERATE 1 hour
    or until firm.
  • Share and enjoy!

I’ve always been a fan of the original chocolate OREO Cookie Ball and love them dipped in dark or white chocolate. Recently I decided to jump outside the box and try something new. What I came up with is Strawberry Cheesecake OREO Cookie Balls.

These little strawberry cheesecake tasting treats are so simple to make that I’m just sure this has been done before. If you’ve never experimented with different flavors of OREOs and cream cheese, you really should! It’s fun to see what different combinations taste like.

Strawberry Cheesecake OREO Cookie Balls:

1. Use a food processor or blender to completely crush one package of Golden OREOs (crushing the OREOs by hand does not yield the best results)
2. Mix one 8 ounce container of strawberry cream cheese and 4 drops of red food coloring into the crushed OREOs.
3. Form the dough into 1/2 inch balls, place on a cookie sheet lined with waxed or parchment paper, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour. (I do 1/2 inch balls because I prefer smaller OREO cookie balls)
4. Melt 16 ounces of dark chocolate then dip the OREO Cookie Balls into the chocolate. Return the balls to the waxed or parchment paper lined cookie sheet and refrigerate until set.

*Store OREO Cookie Balls in the refrigerator.

See? So easy! You can be as creative with your OREO Cookie Balls as you wish. I made two types of dough (the Strawberry Cheesecake and also the traditional chocolate dough) and made football shaped OREO Cookie Balls with a small amount of each dough. Make football laces use a piping bag or a zip top bag with a tiny corner snipped off.


With OREO Cookie Balls the possibilities are endless! The strawberry cheesecake version will be perfect for Valentines Day. Who wouldn’t love Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cheesecake OREO Cookie Balls?!

    So many fun OREO Cookie Balls! I love the valentines ones and the birthday ones too! I seriously want to run out and buy all the ingredients right now, only 1/2 of my family has Celiac Disease and can't eat gluten, so I'd end up eating the entire batch pretty much by myself. 🙂 #client

    MMM…I LOVE oreos! I tried making homemade oreos once, and they were good, but nothing like the real thing. I cook most everything from scratch, so it is rare that I think the store-bought version is better. But I digress…this recipe looks fun and easy, thanks for sharing!

    I make oreo truffles/footballs quite often. They are so good. They are always a hit at Christmas time. I am intrigued though with your strawberry version.. almost wonder about adding in some graham cracker crumbs and using a few less cookies.
