Reinvent Me Payton Peoples

More than 2 in 3 adults are overweight or obese in the US. That means that the overwhelming majority of people are struggling with their weight.

I am one of those people.

I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I’ve never known what life is like as a “skinny” person. I’ve spent my whole life having doctors tell me how much weight I needed to lose or how there must be something horribly medically wrong with me just because of a number on a scale. My two pregnancies opened my eyes to how much things needed to change.

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2011 which impacts how I have to approach health and fitness overall. You name the diet, I’ve tried it and nothing has ever worked. Maybe I’ve seen results in the short term but nothing ever stuck to keep results coming long term.

In January of 2014, when my kids were two years old and 6 months old, my life started to change. I was introduced to the online family of health and fitness coaches through Beachbody. I was scared. Why? Because as the plus size girl, I had only ever had experiences with people judging me, making me feel horrible without knowing my history or background and feeling like a failure before I even started. Would this be one of those all over again? I wasn’t sure, but I was willing to give it a try.

I was scared. Why? Because as the plus size girl, I had only ever had experiences with people judging me, making me feel horrible without knowing my history or background and feeling like a failure before I even started.

I quickly started to understand that this coaching family was the most encouraging, motivating, determined group of people I’ve ever met in my life. There’s no judgment for where you’re journey is starting or how far you have to go. There’s no “I can’t” and only “I will”.  It’s because of this experience and how my life has changed personally that I too because an online health and fitness coach but I see this opportunity through a unique set of lenses.

I look at this opportunity as a chance to connect women who have otherwise felt down and out, overwhelmed, hopeless and who have almost thrown in the towel and help them see that they ARE worth it, that they are NOT a statistic, that they are POWERFUL, courageous and with the right accountability and tools they can RENEW their lives from the inside out. I am on my own journey. Every day is a chance for me to be better than I was the day before. We have a chance to change our lives, show the world that we KNOW we were made for more and best of all, we have the opportunity to connect with other women who look like us, feel the struggles we face and have a group to cheer us on towards our goals.

The #RenewMe campaign is simply about FOCUS and Renewal. This is a movement by women, for women. This is created to help move the spotlight back where it should be; on ourselves. This is in place to break the stigma that everyone else is more important than us. This is here to help inspire women to start their journey of progress; not perfection. This exists to remember that we matter.

I have learned that most beachbody coaches are incredibly kind hearted people. I’ve done a few different accountability groups through people who are coaches and they are always so encouraging. I lost 40lbs of baby weight through the help of my coaches and encouragement from them and people in the group. It can be so easy as women to put everyone else ahead of ourselves. This is an area where more women need to realize it is ok to love your body where you are at, it’s ok to put you first, it’s ok to focus on you. When we do that great things happen. I love your story!

Keep pushing yourself and inspiring people!! This is a great movement!

All in all, I think we as a culture pass far too much judgment on others without trying to understand the journey that they are on. That’s so wonderful that you found a supportive community! That’s so wonderful that you found a supportive community!

I need to find a community like this, because I have a lot of weight to lose and can feel in my body that I am unhealthy.
Thank you for this post- very inspiring!
