Peanut butter and chocolate are a classic craveable combination. Something about the rich, nutty, creaminess just makes you want to bathe in the deliciousness. Ok… maybe I’m taking it too far! But there really is something especially delicious about sweet and creamy peanut butter paired with rich and melt-in-your-mouth chocolate.
So why not make a healthier version of a peanut butter and chocolate treat? I’m in!
I started these peanut butter chocolate protein candies with crispy cocoa cereal, vanilla protein powder, creamy peanut butter, and honey. This recipe could not be easier!
I got my protein powder from my friend, Anna. It’s my favorite, and I am super picky! Click here for info on this protein powder.
Organic cocoa crispy cereal adds great crunch to this recipe. I found this in the organic cereal section at my local Kroger store:
I also drizzled a little dark chocolate over the protein candies because… well, why not?
Peanut Butter Chocolate Protein Candies
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter – I used reduced fat, but you could also use all-natural or low sugar
1/2 cup vanilla protein powder
1/4 cup honey – use fresh, local honey if possible
1/4 cup organic crispy cocoa rice cereal
2 tablespoons dark or semi sweet chocolate, melted
1. In a medium mixing bowl, stir together the peanut butter, protein powder, honey, and cereal until the mixture forms a dough.
2. Roll the dough into 15 bite-sized balls.
3. Drizzle the chocolate over the candies.
Makes 5 servings. Store in the refrigerator.
