Christmas-Food-Shopping

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I’m crazy about Christmas time. Not crazy about the ugly Christmas sweater situation… but I’ll get over it!

There is so much I want to do in this short month! Baking a gazillion cookies, decorating my house, sending Christmas cards (need to get those ordered!), Christmas activities and crafts with my little girl, attending several Christmas parties (including “ugly sweater” parties as mentioned above!), cooking several holiday feasts… yikes!

How does a busy working mama get all of this done in between work, regular errands and activities, cleaning the house, and more? Well, I start everything early! I began my Christmas food shopping today with a trip to Walmart while my daughter was in preschool. Shopping alone… WHAT?!

While at Walmart I took a minute to look at ingredients to gather inspiration for a new recipe that I’l be sharing here in the next few weeks. I’ll be using my favorite rolls, KING’S HAWAIIAN® Sweet Dinner Rolls, to make a delicious option for your holiday table. You’re going to love it!

We were chatting a couple of days ago on my Facebook page about Christmas cookies:

I’ve worked ahead and already stocked my pantry with all of the baking essentials for what will likely be way too many Christmas cookies.

Time Saving Tip: It’s never too early to make cookie dough! Most varieties of cookie dough can be made ahead of time and frozen to easy prep closer to Christmas.

Here is my cookie list this year (no promises that I’ll get all of these done!):
Classic Cut Out Cookies
Peanut Butter Kisses – I’ve never made these, but my daughter has requested them.
Haystacks – requested by my husband.
Chewy Chocolate Cookies with Chocolate Ganache – the recipe is here on the blog and my husband specifically requested these cookies too.
Pecan & Pretzel Turtles
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Oatmeal Cookies
Double Dark Chocolate Biscotti – recipe is here on the blog
Waffle Cookies
Macarons – maybe!

Now that I have my cookie list done, it’s time to figure out actual meals!

We’re so excited to be hosting my in-laws for Christmas this year, which means I’m not just thinking about actual Christmas dinner, but other meals all week as well. I enjoy cooking during the holidays. My kitchen is my escape. I feel like an artist creating a masterpiece… okay, a little dramatic! But I do love making something extra delicious and watching my family and friends enjoy.

So, now I have most of my food shopping done and it’s time for me to work on my recipe using KING’S HAWAIIAN® Sweet Dinner Rolls. Stay tuned!

We have been so busy this year! But I am determined to sit down and make cookies now that my daughter is old in enough to sit at the table and “help”.

Wow, that is quite the cookie list! Thanks for the inspiration. I’m going to dive into baking around here as well. And I’m guessing those Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies will be a new family favorite for you. It wouldn’t be Christmas around here without them!
