We Call Them Butter Biscuits
Butter Biscuits… does that not just sound seriously delicious? I’ve heard these called 7 Up Biscuits too. I’m of the opinion that if you’re going to eat a biscuit… then eat a GOOD biscuit!
This recipe is so simple and I’m sure your friends and family will love them. I made them once for a gathering and later my friend was asking if I could make the “butter biscuits” again. The name stuck and I’ve been calling them butter biscuits ever since. They’re light, fluffy (for a biscuit), buttery, and lightly sweet. Biscuit perfection.

Ingredients
4 cups of biscuit mix (such as Bisquick or a store brand)
1 cup of sour cream
1 cup of Sprite (7-Up or store brand is also fine)
1 stick of butter, melted
Instructions
- In a large bowl, stir the sour cream into the biscuit mix. Add the Sprite and mix gently.
- Turn the dough out onto a well floured surface. The dough will be very sticky. Knead gently just a couple of times. Do not over knead. The dough should remain very light and will still be sticky.
- Form the dough into a square at least 1 inch in thickness (the dough will spread while baking but does not rise a whole lot, so pat out your dough to your desired thickness).
- Cut the biscuits with a knife or biscuit cutter (square is best because cutting is simple and there is no wasted dough).
- Transfer the biscuits into a lightly greased 9×13 (or larger) glass baking dish. Pour the melted butter over the biscuits.
- Bake at 400 for 12-15 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown.
Makes 18 biscuits.
