Pumpkin Cookies with Cream Cheese Frosting
I remember more than 15 years ago eating a pumpkin cookie that a coworker brought to work. I never forgot that cookie! So years later I decided it was time to figure out how to make them myself. This recipe is exactly what I wanted!

The Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make Pumpkin Cookies with Cream Cheese Frosting:
Cookies:
- Butter
- Granulated sugar
- Baking powder
- Baking soda
- Salt
- Ground cinnamon
- Pumpkin pie spice
- Egg
- Vanilla extract
- Pumpkin puree – Be sure to use 100% all-natural pumpkin puree and not canned pumpkin pie filling which is already seasoned.
- All-purpose
Frosting:
- Butter
- Cream cheese
- Powdered sugar
- Vanilla extract

How to Make Pumpkin Cookies with Cream Cheese Frosting
STEP 1: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
STEP 2: In a large bowl, beat the 1 cup butter with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
STEP 3: Add the sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and pumpkin pie spice; beat until combined.
STEP 4: Add the egg, vanilla extract, and pumpkin puree; beat until combined.
STEP 5: Add the flour; mix well.
STEP 6: Scoop the cookie dough onto an ungreased baking sheet to form 18 cookies. Bake at 350 for 11-12 minutes.
STEP 7: Remove the cookies from the baking sheet and cool to room temperature on a baking rack.
STEP 8: To make the frosting, beat together the ½ cup butter and 8 ounces cream cheese until light and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and powdered sugar and beat until well combined.
STEP 9: Frost the completely cooled cookies generously with the cream cheese frosting.
How to Frost the Cookies
You can certainly just add the frosting to the cookies with a knife. But I like to scoop it into a zip top bag and cut off one corner and then pipe the frosting onto the cookies making a circulate motion, working from the outside in. If you have a piping bag, you can use that instead with a star tip. Just be sure the frosting is at room temperature because if it’s too cold it will be too stiff to pipe.
